Mari Haneda

RYT200

Yoga has been a part of Mari’s (MAH-ree) life for many years, helping her maintain equilibrium particularly when facing trying circumstances. As a cancer- and transplant-survivor, she appreciates how movement can promote mental and physical well-being and resilience. Initially certified as a Vinyasa yoga teacher (2020), she has suffered from yoga-induced chronic pain. Yoga Lab’s functional movement-informed yoga teacher training (2024-25) fundamentally transformed how she understands and envisions what yoga can be. It taught her how to practice yoga in a biomechanically safe manner based on functional anatomy, enabling her to pursue yoga pain-free. It also informed her of the importance of compassion to the self and others and of infusing mindfulness into the mat and beyond. She loves the freedom, strength, and creativity that the Yoga Lab method embodies and is eager to share it with others. Mari brings her transnational, culturally and linguistically rich experiences into the mat and strives to create a safe, joyful communal space to practice yoga together. Outside the mat, you will find her running, dancing, doing strength-training, and being an academic.
